Downtown OWA's Memorial Day Weekend runs all three days -- free activities, live music, and fireworks Saturday night make it the anchor event of the long weekend. The weather's playing a little hard to get. Friday and Saturday both bring a real shot at afternoon storms, then Sunday finally relaxes and hands you the clean day -- mid-80s straight through. Keep half an eye on the radar, but don't let it sideline you; most of this list has a roof or works around the afternoon storm window anyway.

Friday

Memorial Day Weekend -- Downtown OWA, Free activities available, 7:00 PM CT

OWA kicks off its Memorial Day run tonight with a full spread on OWA Island from 4 to 9 PM -- patriotic paint party on the splashpad, a windsock craft near Tropic Falls, a pitch-hit-and-splash game, a scavenger hunt, and a DJ keeping things moving. The free activities run the whole weekend, but tonight is a solid low-key opener if you want to get a feel for the layout before Saturday's bigger crowd.

Tee Off Turned Up Live Music Series -- The Stage at Portside

The Wharf's weekly summer live music series runs Thursday through Sunday all season, bringing a mix of local favorites and higher-energy acts to The Stage at Portside. It's a good pre-dinner or post-beach setup -- open-air, right on the water, and the kind of place where a two-hour hang turns into four without much effort.

Freedom & Frosé Party at Gulf Babe Wine Boutique -- Gulf Babe Wine Boutique, $38

Gulf Babe is throwing a proper Memorial Day kickoff -- chilled frosé, festive atmosphere, and an excuse to get your crew together before the weekend fully takes over. At $38 it's a ticketed experience, not a casual drop-in, so plan accordingly and grab your spot ahead of time.

Lea Anne Creswell Duo -- Main Room, 12:00 PM CT

Lea Anne Creswell is a Pensacola native who sharpened her sound in Dallas before coming back to the Gulf Coast scene. She's performing as a duo at the Flora-Bama's Main Room, which is about as good a setting as you'll find for that kind of laid-back afternoon live music -- especially if storms push people off the beach and indoors.

Live Music - Strickly Rivers -- Cosmo's Restaurant & Bar, Free entry with purchase, 2:00 PM & 4:00 PM CT

Roger Strick and Flo Rivers play Cosmo's covered patio this afternoon -- free to hear as long as you're eating or drinking, which on a Friday afternoon in Memorial Day weekend is not a hard ask. Pair it with the happy hour specials running simultaneously.

Happy Hour Specials -- Cosmo's Restaurant & Bar, $5 beers, $6 wines, $7 cocktails, 2:00 PM & 4:00 PM CT

Draft beers at $5, house wines at $6, cocktails at $7, and $2 off all sushi rolls. Running alongside the live music, this is a solid Friday afternoon combo -- covered patio means the storm threat doesn't necessarily kill it.

Sunset Cruise -- Historic Blakeley State Park, $25, 6:30 PM CT

This one heads out from the Blakeley dock up toward the head of Mobile Bay for views of the setting sun and some bay breeze. Complimentary snacks and soft drinks are included. Worth noting: a 71% storm chance tonight means this could be impacted -- worth confirming with the park before you drive out.

Saturday

Memorial Day Weekend -- Downtown OWA, Free activities available, 7:00 PM CT

Saturday is the big day at OWA. Free activities run from 2 to 9 PM, there's a Presentation of Colors at 3 PM, The Heat plays live from 3:30 to 5:30 PM, then the Neil Dover Band takes over from 6 to 8:30 PM. The whole thing wraps with fireworks from 8:50 to 9 PM. This is the most programmed day of the three -- if you only make it to OWA once this weekend, make it Saturday.

America's Tall Ship, U.S. Coast Guard Barque Eagle in Pensacola -- Plaza DeLuna, $385

The USCGC Eagle -- a 295-foot sailing barque and one of the most recognizable ships in the Coast Guard fleet -- is docked in Pensacola this weekend as part of the Sail250 commemorations. At $385 this is clearly not a casual walkup, but if tall ships and maritime history are your thing, seeing Eagle in person is a genuinely rare opportunity on the Gulf Coast.

Discovering the World of William Bartram -- Historic Blakeley State Park, $15, 9:00 AM CT

A two-hour river cruise along the Tensaw retracing part of the route naturalist William Bartram traveled in 1775, led by Bartram enthusiast Brian Rushing. It's an unusually good combination -- an actual boat ride through the Mobile-Tensaw Delta with someone who can tell you what you're looking at historically and ecologically. Followed by a short presentation afterward. $15 is a steal for this kind of program.

3rd Annual Gulf Coast Primary & Intermediate Championship -- 6000 College Pkwy Pensacola, Florida 32504, 9:00 AM CT

Youth track and field comes to Pensacola for the third year running. If you've got a kid competing or just want to watch some genuinely fast young athletes, this is a full morning of action starting at 9 AM.

The Dinner Detective True Crime Murder Mystery Dinner Show -- 8 South 9th Avenue Pensacola, Florida 32502, 6:00 PM CT

North America's largest interactive murder mystery dinner show rolls into Pensacola Saturday night. The format puts the audience in the middle of the investigation -- your table could be sitting next to the killer. Good option if you want a structured Saturday night out that's more entertaining than a standard dinner reservation.

Sunday

Memorial Day at the Park - United in Remembrance -- 200 S. 10th Avenue Pensacola, Florida 32502, Free, 1:00 PM CT

A free Memorial Day ceremony in Pensacola focused on remembrance -- the right way to close out the weekend. Sunday is the least rainy day of the three at 29%, so early afternoon outdoor events have a reasonable shot at clean weather.

Live Music - Lisa Christian -- Cosmo's Restaurant & Bar, Free entry with purchase, 2:00 PM & 4:00 PM CT

Lisa Christian plays Cosmo's covered patio Sunday afternoon, same setup as Friday -- free to hear with a food or drink order. The happy hour specials stack right alongside it.

Happy Hour Specials -- Cosmo's Restaurant & Bar, $5 beers, $6 wines, $7 cocktails, 2:00 PM & 4:00 PM CT

The Sunday version of Cosmo's happy hour -- $5 drafts, $6 house wines, $7 cocktails, and $2 off sushi rolls. A low-key way to wind down the long weekend without doing too much damage to the wallet.
